Seminole pumpkins are a unique, heirloom variety of winter squash (Cucurbita moschata), named after their original grower, the Seminole tribe of Creek Native American Indians. They are known for their sweet, pumpkiny flavor, sweet and firm flesh, and long storage life. Seminole pumpkins can be round, pear-shaped, or even crook-necked, and they vary in color from green to tan to pale orange. They are delicious in pies, soups, baked goods, and as a summer squash when picked green.
